Doing What You Hate?
Two times a month, I sit at my desk and do what I hate the most - paying the bills. There are many reasons that I despise this task. Besides being tedious, it takes time, energy, and inevitably, there will be an error on my bill, which means that I have to contact the dreaded customer service department to get it straightened out. Ugh! This is unbearable.
Recently, I read a statistic on the web that changed my focus. The statistic said that the average person spends 1.25 hours per week paying bills. Wow, I thought. What a waste of time. The next time I sat down to pay my bills, I tracked my time, and guess what, they were right. I confirmed that I, too, was wasting 65 hours a year paying bills. Something must change!
I then asked myself the question, "what needs to happen to cut this time in half?" I immediately thought about online bill paying, and am in the process of setting this up. This should easily cut my bill paying time in half, and free up over 30 hours/year of my time.
I challenge you this month to ask yourself what you hate the most. Determine what this is costing you. Is it robbing you of your time? Energy? Money? Then ask yourself, "what needs to happen to make this go away?" The answer to that question will help you cut down on your wasted time, increase your positive energy, and improve the quality of your life. A challenge worth taking!
