In today’s highly competitive market, it’s hard to attract and hire top talent, let alone retain it. Since your people are your most important asset, it’s imperative that you hire the right people with the right skills and talents for the job. More importantly, once you hire them, you need to develop your talent to ensure that they continue to grow and contribute at a high level. In fact, most employees cite the lack of development and opportunity as the #1 reason they leave for other opportunities.

According to the SHRM Human Capital Benchmarking Report 2016, the average cost for a company to hire an employee is $4,129. Furthermore, ERE Media estimates that the real cost of employee turnover ranges between 30-50% of their annual salary for an entry level employee, 150% of their annual salary for a mid-level employee, and up to 400% of their annual salary for a high-level employee. The bottom line is that hiring a new employee requires an investment of time and money. You can’t afford to make the costly mistake of hiring the wrong person, or worse yet, losing your top talent because you’re not actively challenging and developing them. The good news is that with our help – you don’t have to!

Job Benchmarking

Our job benchmarking process allows you to determine the key metrics for success at your company and for specific roles within your company by benchmarking your top talent. Our four- phase process will help you hire only the best candidates that will be an ideal fit for the position you are hiring:

Identify the Job and “Subject Matter Experts”. It is important to understand why the job exists, how success in the job is measured, the history of the position and how it fits the company strategy. The Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) are people within the organization that have a direct connection to the job. Their expertise will help you create the job benchmark.
Define, Prioritize and Weigh Key Accountabilities. Through discussion, the SMEs will define a comprehensive yet succinct group of 3-5 key accountabilities for the position. These will be ranked by importance and time requirement.
Respond to the Job Assessment and Review the Multiple Respondent Report. The SMEs will respond to the Job Assessment keeping the Key Accountabilities in mind. Based on a unique analysis, the Multiple Respondent Report combines the input of all SMEs to create a benchmark for the job.
Compare Talent to the Job Benchmark using a Gap Report. A talent assessment on the same scale as the job will identify the characteristics an individual will bring to the job, allowing you to easily determine the best job fit and identify coaching opportunities. Within the framework of a company’s overall selection process, effective hiring decisions can be made and productivity can begin immediately.

Hiring

Our assessments will give you the edge in your hiring process by providing you factual, data-based information on behaviors, motivators and competencies that you just can’t obtain from interviews alone. This information will not only help you to hire the right person, it will also help you motivate, manage and develop them during your onboarding process.

Talent Development

The first step in any talent development process is to identify how the employee is performing currently with respect to the key performance metrics required to do their job. Then we can compare where they are currently to where they need to be for outstanding performance. This allows us to strategically build an individual development plan to coach and develop them to the next level.

Our assessment tools will assess the current behaviors, motivators, acumen, competencies and emotional intelligence of the person that you are looking to develop. This will provide you with the tools that you need to better manage, motivate, and develop them to the next level. Additionally, our 360º assessment tools can provide you with an additional level of feedback and insight as well.

Tom Kelly is a Great Executive Coach

“Tom Kelly is a great executive coach. As part of my development plan he conducted a 360-leadership assessment for me. The feedback I received from my team and peers was excellent and generated many action items for me to work on to capitalize on my strengths and work on those things the need improvement. Becoming aware of areas in which the entire team was in agreement, areas that were blind spots for me, and even areas of unrealized strengths was exciting and helpful. It is impossible to improve or correct a problem if we don’t know it exists! This assessment provided me with a greater level of awareness and will ultimately help me be a better leader. Thanks Tom!”
