What To Do When Failure Is No Longer Possible
Are you successful at what you do? Have you ever wondered how you can be successful, have everything you want, and still not be happy with your life? Sometimes when we reach a level of success in our life, we reach a place where failure is no longer possible. This happens when your reputation and what you have already achieved stands on its own. Therefore, no matter what happens going forward, you will never be perceived as failing, as you have nothing left to prove. The result of this can be that we are no longer challenged, and start to lose our zest for life. So, what do you do when you have reached a point where failure is no longer possible?
1. Change Scenery
The first way to get your drive and fire back is to change scenery. Back when I was working in Corporate America, I had a strong reputation at the company I was working for, and no longer felt challenged. I was in my "comfort zone". I changed companies, and went somewhere where I didn't have a reputation or past track record. This forced me to roll up my sleeves and prove myself all over again. This restored my drive and energy, and had a positive effect on my life. A change of scenery can be a job change, moving to a different community, or anything that is going to put you into a situation where you have the potential to fail again.
2. Get Involved in New Things
Getting involved in new hobbies, organizations, and in the community can energize you just like a change of scenery can. By applying your skills and talents in new and unique ways, you can get out of your comfort zone and prove yourself all over again!
3. Reinvent Yourself
Some of the most successful people in the world use this technique to get their fire back! If you have already proven yourself in your chosen career or business, one thing you can do is to leave that career and start over again doing something else you are interested in. This will give you a clean slate and put you "Back into the game" again, as you will have to prove yourself in a new and exciting way.
Keep in mind that what really brings us joy in life and in business is a good challenge - and the potential for failure. If you have already proven yourself, and there is no longer chance for failure, then there is no risk. Without risk, there is no reward!
Keep this in mind the next time you are feeling unfulfilled. Perhaps it's because you are really good at what you do, and there is no longer a chance to fail!
